21) Can I use different ad
sizes within a rotation?
1) System
Requirements:
This system requires Perl 5+. If you are using NT or
Windows2000, you will need perl.exe such as activestate
perl. It will not function properly under Perl
for ISAPI (PerlIS).
2)
Can the program be
used without SSI ?
Yes. You can use straight SSI calls, which gives you the
greatest flexibility, but you can also run rich media and text
only ads without SSI. The code generator gives you code for each
of your options. Just generate the code and paste it into your
pages.
3)
Can I show banners in generated pages?
Yes ! There is
information packaged with the program explaining this feature. It
basically involves placing three or four items in the script that
you want to show banners in. Of course you can also use Non-SSI
ads in your scripts as well.
4) Can I server banners to other domains?
Only if you purchase an unlimited
usage license. At least for now. The program can be used
to server banners only on the server which it is installed.
However, see item 5 below.
5) Can I use this system as an
affiliate program or banner exchange?
Yes, if you purchase the banner exchange plugin. This feature is included in
at no extra cost if you purchase an Unlimited Usage Licnese. This feature will allow you to
remotely host banners, using it as a basic referral program or
banner exchange. Please see the
Users Guide
for more information.
6) Is there a demo I could use before
purchasing?
Yes. You can access a fully functioning demo of the
administration area. Just go to
http://demo.ad-eagle.com Please Note: All
accesses are recorded and each action taken from within the admin
demo are logged.
7) What do you consider to be "High
traffic" ?
Well, it may be easier to describe what we do NOT
consider to be high traffic. A couple thousand page views a day is
not high traffic. This system is successfully running on sites
serving more than 3,000,000 ads a day. That, in our opinion, is
high traffic !
8) Are passwords encrypted?
Yes. At least those that matter -> the administrators
password. The clients passwords are not. After all, the only
access someone could gain if they did get a customers password
would be to view their stats. We decided it was unnecessary to
encrypt these. The administrators password is encrypted, and the
admin can change their password at will.
9)
What does the client see when the log in to view their stats?
The customer is shown the banners themselves, and gets the
following stats:
Views and click-thrus for each banner they have in the system.
Expire method for each banner.
Expire time for each banner. (giving the number of views clicks or
days remaining)
Ratio of views to clicks for each banner.
The total views and clicks for all banners.
The ratio of views to clicks for all banners combined.
The page the
customer views is also customizable to fit your site, using a
template html file that you can edit in any editor, simply adding
the tags required in the places where you want the various items
to appear. Of course the template provided works fine if you don't
mind seeing "Veinotte.com" on the generated page. Take a
look here for an example:
http://www.cgi.veinotte.com/ads/customer_stats/
Username: demo
Password: banners
10) Is it easy to remove a client ?
Yes. You select them from a list in the administration area,
click remove twice, and they are history. Removing rotations works
the same way. Every item pertaining to that client or rotation is
removed from the system.
11) How do I ...
Please see the users guide.
12) I have a huge
site, with many different categories / areas. Do I need
more than one
system?
Not at all. The system uses "rotations" and you can
have as many as you need. So, if one section of your site contains
investment information, you could have a rotation called
"business" and have only banners from the business
rotation displayed in that section of your site, while in the
"poetry" section, you could have a rotation called
"poetry" being run. You can name as many rotations as
you need, and create new with the click of a button.
13) Can I use the
system on more than one domain?
Not unless you have purchased a multiple site license. The listed
single site license price is for a single web site or domain. For
information and prices on multiple domain licensing, please see
the pricing page or write to Sales.

14) Can I show more than one banner
per page?
Yes. Many sites
are running four to six banners per page. Of course the more calls
the more work the server is doing, but there is no limit to the
number of banners you can call from a single page. For very high
traffic sites using multiple ads per page we recommend that you
run the ads.cgi and go.cgi scripts under mod_perl.

15) What if I want a specific
banner to appear in one place?
You can specify banners wherever you require banners to appear
in a certain spot. To call a specific banner you simply add the
banner id to the ssi call like so:
<!--#include
virtual="/cgi-bin/ad-eagle/ads.cgi?rtn=rotation_name&id=banner_id"
-->
instead of
<!--#include virtual="/cgi-bin/ad-eagle/ads.cgi?rtn=rotation_name"
-->

16)
Can I display text beneath my banners?
Yes. You can add unique text beneath any or all banners within
your system, as long as you are using SSI to serve your ads. This
text will be linked the same as the banner itself. So, you can
have alt text and then different text linked below the banner,
giving you the opportunity to say a little more about a product or
service being advertised.
17)
Can our company resell this software?
ONLY by purchasing a resale license. Please write to Sales
for complete information or go here.
Please note that at this time resale licenses are available to
companies only. Not individuals.
18)
Can I get support beyond the thirty days I receive with my
purchase?
Yes. Support is provided for the first year as part of the
purchase price. After the initial year you must purchase an annual
support license to continue to receive support. License pricing is
available on the
order page, and on the
license pricing
page.
19)I
am running ads from a third party / another company. Can I
use their [timestamp] code?
Yes. Some companies use a [timestamp] at the
end of the image and a href URLs. You can past this code directly
into the system, and the [timestamp] will be replaced with a nine
digit number which will then be passed to their image server.
There is an array in the "System Comfigurations" section
of the administration area which is set to contain all the
different options you may need to use other companies cache
busters. More info can be found in the users
guide here.
20) Do you offer
a hosted solution?
Yes. We can serve your ads for you, while providing you with
all of the administration features you would have if you were to
install Ad Eagle Suite on your own server. For more information
and pricing please
go here or write to Sales.
21) Can I use different
ad sizes within a rotation?
Yes, but unless you are using straight SSI calls, you should
not. You should keep the ads in each rotation the same size. If
not, some features (such as timed refresh) will not work, and you
will be limited in the codes that you can use to call your ads. If
you are only using SSI calls, then feel free to mix them up!
